Yamaha
Motocross - 4 Stroke
|
 |
| The
Yamaha YZ426F |
| The YZ400F has sent industry experts
searching for superlatives ever since it took the MX scene by
storm just two years ago. "A motocross marvel," raved Motocross
Action, while Dirt Bike hailed it as the bike that "changed
the motocross world forever." Doug Henry merely drove home the
point by winning the '98 National Outdoor title. Well, get ready
to have your world rocked-again. Introducing the new, more-powerful-than-ever
YZ426F. First off, we've rebored that revolutionary ultra-short-stroke,
liquid-cooled, 5-valve thumper and retooled the piston and crankshaft.
Dropped in a brand-new 39mm Keihin flat-slide FCR carb with
throttle position sensor (TPS) and a newly integrated hot-start
button. Fitted a works-style clutch lever with an all-new race-spec
barrel adjuster. Reshaped the silencer. And tweaked first- and
second-gear ratios while beefing up clutch capacity with larger,
stronger plates. The result? Try a sharp boost in power and
throttle response and a broad, flat torque-band that spells
instant headaches for anyone in your wake. And that's just for
starters. New low-friction outer tubes now maximize smooth fork
stroke, while separate high-and low-speed damper adjustments
on the rear shock let you fine-tune rear suspension. A new subframe
and aluminum suspension internals shave weight, and we've repositioned
the steering head pipe to create a more compact wheelbase for
lighter feel. Greater power. Lighter chassis. Smoother suspension.
Quicker steering. A new revolution has begun.

| The
WR400F |
| So you're and enduro junkie. The
type of person whose playground trends to be landscaped with
rocks, sand washes and wooded trails. Good, because we've got
just the right off-road bike for you" the WR400F. Bred from
Yamaha's radical, National Mix title-wining four-stroke gene
pool, the WR has been fine-tuned to meet the special needs of
the enduro/ trail rider. Start with that wicked 5-valve, liquid-cooled
thumper, tweaked for a broader, off-road-friendly powerband
and a specially designed wide-ratio transmission. Hook it up
to a YZ-spec chassis anchored by KYB suspension bits, add off-road-legal
lighting front and back, a 3.2-gallon fuel tank, resettable
tripmeter and an 18-inch rear wheel, and you're looking at an
enduro machine with handling and range as responsive and effortless
as its engine is mind-blowing. Sound like an unbeatable package?
Well, get ready for this: The 2000 WR has been tweaked with
a slew of upgrades-Keihin FCR carb, retooled front and rear
suspension-for crisper throttle response and smoother, more
consistent suspension action. Hmm...improved power delivery,
sharper handling...Looks like you better tell your friends to
start getting used to the taste of dust. |
